TESTIMONY: Primary Talk on ‘Preparing for the Temple’

A few weeks ago my 11-year-old son was asked to give a talk in primary on preparing for the temple. I really liked what he had to say about it and thought it very appropriate to share here as part of Temples and Testimonies. If you had a testimony or church talk you would like to share for the blog, check out the submission page.

“My talk is on preparing for the temple. One of the best ways to prepare for the temple is following our gospel standards. Our gospel standards say how to live right. They tell us what to do and what not to do such as dressing modestly and listening to good music. When we follow the gospel standards we are following Jesus. Some other things we can do are go to church, be kind, be honest, and chose the right. I am trying to do these things and be like Jesus so I can go to the temple when I turn twelve and do baptisms for the dead. If we do not prepare now for the temple we will not be worthy to enter the temple to make covenants.

“In Psalms 24 verse 3 and 4 it says

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. This says that only clean and worthy people are allowed into the temple.

“Heavenly father wants us to go to the temple and is sad when we are not worthy. We should all prepare for the temple while we are young to get in the habit of being righteous and doing what heavenly father would like us to do.”
